A number of senior money fund marketing and sales personnel were hit by a "downsizing" at BlackRock recently, including Kathy Chuppe, John Parthemore, Mark Steinberg, Tom Rudwall, and Thomas Owsten.

Former TD Asset Management Portfolio Manager Peter Lyons has started with BNY Mellon's Securities Lending unit in Pittsburgh.

Craig Weisenberger, who was formerly with Columbia Management, has accepted a position with ICMA-RC in Washington, DC, as a fixed income fund manager.

Robin Hudson has resigned from Victory Capital Management, manager of Victory Prime Obligations. Hudson had been with Victory since 1981 and was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Director.

Ianthe Zabel has joined the Investment Company Institute (ICI) as Senior Director, Media Relations. She comes from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Money fund industry veteran Tom Nelson has joined IDC Deposits as director of institutional sales. The company, also known as Institutional Deposits Corp., offers a money market account product with insurance of $15 million per investor.

Eric Lansky will be leaving The Reserve.

A Businesswire release states, "The Reserve announced that Joseph T. Monagle, Jr., a former senior executive with Merrill Lynch & Co.'s asset management business, has been hired to evaluate The Reserve's portfolios and advise the independent trustees as the company and its investment adviser, Reserve Management Company, Inc., liquidate certain of the Fund's portfolios.

Doug Gasher is no longer with Calamos Investments, manager of Calamos Government Money Market Fund.

Portfolio manager Mark Amberson, Philip Coates and Helen Stewart are no longer with Russell Investment Management, manager of Russell Money Market Fund. Kelly Mainelli is now lead portfolio manager on the Russell money funds. In other news, Said Rafat is no longer with Fitch Ratings.

Scott Pavlak and Peter Mahoney have moved from Bear Stearns Asset Management to Logan Circle Partners to run enhanced cash, short and intermediate duration management strategies.

Dale Albright has started with Columbia Management as a senior portfolio manager on Paul Quistberg's cash investment team. Albright was previously with Morgan Stanley.

Daniel D. Olson has launched Olson Tax & Financial Planning, LLC. Olson was previously with money market fund trading "portal" Citibank Online Investments.

Robert J. Schmelzer has left Jersey City-based Financial Sciences Corporation. Schmelzer was product manager of the company's money market and commercial paper trading platform.

James McDonald is retiring as portfolio manager of T. Rowe Price Summit Cash Reserves Fund.

Putnam Investments named Jeffrey R. Carney Senior Managing Director and Head of Global Marketing and Products, said Putnam President and CEO Robert L. Reynolds today in a press release. Carney was previously at Bank of America.

Scott Fox, former Regional Sales Director (Western) for Janus Capital has moved to online money market fund trading "portal" Institutional Cash Distributors (ICD) as a Senior V.P. of Business Development.

Marianne Bamonte has moved to Union Bank of California as SVP, Securities Services Group Manager in Institutional Services Management. Bamonte was previously with LaSalle's MoneyMarketsExpress portal.

Steve Kraus is leaving BNY Mellon Global Liquidity Services to become a new Senior VP and Head of Direct Funding for the Americas at the Bank of Ireland Global Markets in Stamford, Conn.

Money fund veteran and stickler for safety Steve Traum is no longer with TIAA-CREF.

The Reserve appointed John Drahzal Managing Director, Global Head of Sales. Drahzal, who previously worked at Victory Funds, Promontory Interfinancial Network, and Prudential's JennisonDryden, reports to Bruce Bent II, Vice-Chairman and President of The Reserve.

Evergreen Investments announced that Mathew Kiselak "will assume responsibility as head of Evergreen's municipal bond group." James Randazzo and Ladson Hart will now co-manage Evergreen Municipal Money Market Fund, Evergreen Institutional Municipal Money Market Fund, Evergreen New Jersey Muni MMF, Evergreen New York Muni MMF, Evergreen California Muni MMF, and Evergreen Pennsylvania Muni MMF. Henry "Harry" Brown, who co-invented the money market mutual fund with Bruce Bent at The Reserve in 1971, has died at 82, reports The Washington Post. The Post quotes former ICI president Matthew Fink from his pending book "The Rise of Mutual Funds: An Insider's View," "Money market funds were clearly the most important product innovation in the history of the mutual fund industry."

David Martucci has joined Scott Pavlak in managing Bear Stearns Current Yield ETF (YYY), according to regulatory filings.

The Vanguard Group is seeking a Taxable Money Market Portfolio Manager in its Malvern, Pa. headquarters. Qualifications include at least 5 years' taxable money market PM experience with AUM of at least $25 billion. Contact Stephen Bianchi, Senior Manager, Executive Recruiting, for more details.

Daniel Cullen is new head of brokerage sales and Scott Anderson is new broker dealer marketing manager at The Reserve. Cullen reports to sales and marketing MD Eric Lansky and Anderson reports to marketing VP Maureen O'Brien.

Robert Foley joined Robert Galusza in managing Fidelity Short-Term Bond funds. He replaces Andrew Dudley, who left in February.

Chris Proctor has been hired by Oppenheimer Funds as a VP and senior research analyst. He will report to Carol Wolf, portfolio manager and head of the money market group.

Invesco AIM's Karen Dunn Kelley is featured in Financial Week's "Invesco exec has bonds in her blood". She tells IN, "When you look at money markets, it is the real understanding of what safety, liquidity and yield is all about, and how best to interpret it. It's an all or none sum game."

Barry Weiss will no longer assist Carol Wolf in the day-to-day management of the Oppenheimer Centennial Money Market Trust, Oppenheimer Centennial Government Trust, and Oppenheimer Money Market Funds reports

GAMCO Investors Inc., manager of Gabelli U.S. Treasury Money Market Fund, has named Ronald Eaker Co-Portfolio Manager of the fund. According to Gabelli's website, the fund "seeks to provide high current income consistent with the preservation of principal and liquidity.... The Fund currently has in excess of $1.1 billion in assets under management," says Gabelli. (The fund currently does not report to Crane Data, so is not listed in our rankings.)

BlackRock announced that Paul Audet has been named Vice Chairman, overseeing the company's global Real Estate and Cash Management businesses. Audet has been "head of the Company's global Cash Management business since 2005" says a press release.

Curtis Arledge has joined BlackRock as Managing Director and co-head of U.S. Fixed Income, and will be responsible for managing fixed-income portfolios "with an emphasis on non-agency asset-backed and mortgage-backed securities," said the company.

Senior V.P. David Ursa is now overseeing LaSalle Global Trust Services' MoneyMarkets Express online money fund trading portal. Ursa replaces Marianne Bamonte, who is no longer with LaSalle.

Beth Anderson, former co-head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Global Liquidity Business, is no longer with the company, we hear from readers of Callan Insights. Dave Fishman continues to lead the money markets. He reportedly will be joined by Jim McCarthy.

Treasury Strategies appointed Monie Lindsey head of a new London office and European expansion. Lindsey will be joined by Laurie McCulley and Dave Robertson.

Securities & Exchange Commission Commissioner Paul Atkins plans to leave when his term expires. ICI says, "We are grateful that Paul has taken such a serious interest in regulatory policies affecting registered investment companies, and we wish him well in his future endeavors."

Dana Messina has decided to leave Reich & Tang Funds, one of the first entrants in the money market mutual fund business, after 27 years. R&T manages the Daily Income Money Market Fund, Daily Income Treasury MM, and several Daily Income Municipal money funds.

VP of Fixed Income and Portfolio Manager Don Duncan is no longer with GE Asset Management.

Portfolio Manager Peter Lyons is no longer with TDAM (Toronto Dominion Asset Management).
